The E20 crossing was 620 metres long and had a permit window of six days. That only works if the rig keeps drilling at night, so the contractor ran two shifts.
Safe rod handling in the dark
The RodGrip Pro moved every 9 metre rod between the rack and the rig, on the day shift and on the night shift. Four lighting towers lit the rig, the rod rack and the fluid pit without blinding traffic on the motorway above.
Result
The bore was finished on day five. About 700 rod movements, none by hand.
