The contractor wanted to move rig, fluid and storage in one transport. Their trailer left 5.2 metres for a tank. Our standard 40 m3 unit is 5.5 metres long. Cutting one down would have cost capacity, so we designed a new one.
From drawing to test in six weeks
Engineering made the 3D model in week one. Fabrication, coating and assembly took four weeks. In week six the tank was filled, pressure tested and pumped empty in our yard before it left for Terneuzen.
Result
Same 40 m3 capacity, 30 centimetres shorter, and a pump outlet on the side the crew asked for. It has been on the road since January.
